Write Up:
The day got off to an early start so we had plenty of time to climb at the "Junkyards". After a brief lesson, the group tackled the frozen waterfalls with much gumption and enthusiasm. Adventures included ropes freezing, Shirley losing a crampon, Narmin being dropped a short distance on a descent; and Rachel demonstrating how dancing and ice climbing are compatible activities. This was followed by the rare sighting of a little known tribal dance. To top off the day, Karen, Jason and Shah conquered the big, steep falls. It's no surprise that "Ice, Ice, Baby" was in our heads on the descent back to the cars.
And thanks to our guides, Mark and Erika, for putting up the ropes and giving us lots of tips on technique.
