Interested in learning what ice climbing's all about? Then this is for you! A qualified guide from OnTop Mountaineering will be taking us to a natural ice waterfall near Canmore to show us the ropes (pun intended). We will wake up early and meet the guide at 8AM in Canmmore and drive to the waterfall location. There will be variable hiking involved in and out of the climbing area. It'll also be quite a long day (8-10 hours) in total so be prepared! No experience is necessary but a reasonable level of fitness is required. Please pack a lunch with you.

There are 6 spots total for this event. The coordinator will manually approve each spot from the waitlist. This event will be cancelled if we don't have at least 4 people.

Please read OnTop Mountaineering's waiver BEFORE you sign up.

After the day of climbing, we'll head back to the hostel and maybe make a stop at the hot springs to sooth our weary muscles.

NOTE: It is YOUR responsibility to get your own mountaineering boots for this event. Mountaineering boots are specialized shoes for ice climbing and are the only ones that will work with the other equipment we're using that day. Equipment other than mountaineering boots (crampons, ice axe, helmet, harness) will be provided. It is recommended that you have plastic mountaineering boots, however leather ones are acceptable if they are designed for waterfall ice climbing. There are several places to rent mountaineering boots (MEC, UofC, Mountain Magic of Banff, etc.). Be sure to secure them early and keep in mind where/when you have to pick them up and drop them off. If you show up without mountaineering boots, you will NOT be refunded the event fee. Please contact the coordinator if you need help.
