What a weekend. We ended up hiking 32km on Sunday, leaving at 8:45am and finishing up in the parking lot at 7:30pm and this included the 1900 ft ascent up to Goat's Rest Peak. We didn't get back to Edmonton until well after midnight. The weather was excellent for the most part, the potluck very delicious with lots of food and variety. Our river fording thru the Wildhay River was challenging to say the least however. It was knee-deep and innocent-looking but very cold and slippery underneath. Our ankles froze and the pain was unbearable; it was shocking that nobody yelled out any F-words. On our way back, our return fording was even more cumbersome as the river had risen a couple of more inches! The hike up to Goat's Rest Peak was tough but very rewarding.
A really enjoyable weekend with really great people. It makes you realize what an excellent club we have! Thanks for driving Ron and Dave and thanks to everyone for coming out. See you again!
