I’d like to mention right from the start how impressed I am with this club and its members and how everyone comes to the events prepared and on time. As a coordinator this is greatly appreciated because it allows me to stick to my schedule without the need to cut out anything from my plans because we were waiting for someone to arrive. Thus, cudos to everyone!

As for the “Full Moon Ride & Howl description”…

When I originally posted this event I had the words to Neil Young’s “Harvest Moon” playing in my head. After going on the ride and reflecting upon the events of the evening I still come back to his lyrics:

Come a little bit closer
Hear what I have to say
Just like children sleepin
We could dream this night away.

But theres a full moon risin
Lets go dancin in the light
We know where the musics playin
Lets go out and feel the night.

Ask anyone that attended and I trust they would sum up the evening the same way!

The night was like a dream… a fairytale really. We were like children set loose upon the wilderness to play. It is the day after and I still feel like it was dream. Everything was perfect especially the weather. The whole group got along very well and laughed while some cried (that was how good the s’mores were).

The rising of the moon was spectacular yet eerie at the same time. The eeriness pronounced with the howling of the coyotes as they began their hunt for prey.

The food was… heavenly!!! We took s’mores to the next level… Just imagine:

A graham wafer toasting on the grill with a chocolate truffle with a raspberry filling melting on top. Meanwhile you are toasting your marshmallow to perfection over the red hot coals. Once golden brown or black as coal (depending on your idea of perfection) you slip the marshmallow on top of the soft chocolate truffle using the other graham wafer cracker you toasted. You tenderly slip the finished product off the grill and admire your masterpiece before taking your first bite. You can no longer resist the aroma and set it in your mouth, biting tenderly on it to retain some of the marshmallow for future bites. The mixture of the truffle, marshmallow and toasted graham wafer cracker mingle and dance in your mouth to your tongues delight. Then… what is this surprise? The raspberry filing hits your tongue and you are speechless… oh my… the words… fail… you are succumbed with… WOW!!! Who knew a s’more could taste so good!

Yes, the writer had one or two of these delicacies :-)

At last the evening had to come to an end and we headed back to our cars under the moonlight. I am sure the animals were wondering what planet we were from. Our group looked like we were from the movie ET as we were biking as a group under the moonlight. Some of us had head lights, others had bike lights, one had what would be classified as a car light (lit up the entire trail for at least 50 feet), and the rest had no lights. Your writer had the privilege of riding at the front and was subjected to the mercy of riding behind a skunk for what seemed a lifetime. Luckily no one was sprayed. Could you imagine running over a skunk with a bike… on second thought let’s not go there!

Needless to say we got back in one piece and we were looking forward to the next “Full Moon Ride & Howl”.

It was a pleasure riding with everyone who came and I look forward to planning another “Full Moon Ride & Howl”. It may not be a biking event but it will be just as much fun by foot or on skiis ;-)

P.S. We also had two people join us the day of so they do not appear in the above list of attendees but they are JF (a.k.a. Jean Francois) and special guest Van. Thanks guys for coming!
