We had some pretty faboo weather for the Saddle & Paddle. The Kananaskis hostel is pretty nice too, with a great caretaker (Shawna) who gave us lots of hiking/biking tips. We started off on a beautiful Saturday morning at Boundary Ranch, where we got on some pretty well behaved horses and then rode off into the woods. There were some pretty nice views of the valley but mostly the trail was completely in the forest. There were a few steep parts that we were impressed the horses could handle no problem. It was good fun, despite the sore butts that followed. We were fed a nice barbecue lunch at the ranch and then we headed over to the river for the white water rafting. We were driven up the river, given paddles and a pretty involved training/safety speech. Penny was given the Princess position due to her arm injury (lucky wench). We were divided into two boats, but only the second boat succeeded at 'surfing' on some rapids. There were some water cannon fights which resulted in a major soaking during the slow parts of the river and there were some pretty good rapids, some right after each other. Rafting is a blast for sure! Pretty sure the whole group can't wait to do it again. Afterwards, we had dinner and then sat around the fire pit roasting marshmallows and getting important information out of each other, such as "your most manly moment" stories from the girls. On Sunday, a few people went biking, a few went to Barriere Lake and rest went hiking. All in all an awesome weekend and it was great to meet all of you!
