What a lovely day for treasure hunting! It was sunny and breezy for this multi-cache hunt. We split up into two teams and headed out to our targets. Jason's team went to the zoo for their first cache. They walked all around the perimeter of the zoo, listening to the animals' calls and taunts, only to find that the GPS units pointed to a spot 10 meters on the other side of the fence in the elk pen. They went back for the clues, and found the cache after a long search. Team A's second cache took them to the university area to find a cache that was out in the open and required some tippy-toeing around to uncover. Shirley's team had to search a bit for the first cache in Mill Woods Park. Lisa found it in a bush after digging around and getting somewhat of an arm rash from the evil bush. The second cache, which Lisa also located, was in an open area of the Edmonton Research Park and the dogs got a nice run in. The third cache was oh so tricky, however. It was along Blackmud Creek, west of Twin Brooks, but recent housing development stamped out the once convenient parking lot access. As a result, we did quite a bit of bush bashing before finally coming to a trail. Lisa found this one too, leaving us all to bow to her searching super powers. Armed with the clues from both teams, we met up at the EOC BBQ to decipher the final cache's coordinates. Thanks to the BBQ organizers for all the great food! The final cache, which was was full of goodies, required quite a search too, but the biggest prize was a feeling of accomplishment for good detective work all around!
