Write Up:
We had an excellent trip out to Jasper, enjoying lovely weather throughout the entire weekend. Five of us (Sandie, Ryan, Rose, Raydene and Linda) drove out to Jasper on Friday evening, and we were joined on Saturday morning by Rawane, Noha and Nada.

Our hike started slightly later than expected on Saturday morning, after Linda discovered that she had a flat tire, causing us to take a longer trip into Jasper to look for a garage that could fix the tire. We hiked the Valley of the Five Lakes trail throughout the afternoon, completing the longer 9 km loop (rather than the 4.2 km loop that had been originally planned). The group then stopped for an hour at Athabasca Falls – a very touristy spot, but a perfect choice for several members of our group who had never visited Jasper previously. Due to delays in getting the tire repaired and the increase in the length of our hike, we did not take the Whistlers tram in Jasper, as originally planned. In the evening, most of the group ate dinner at Miss Italia in Jasper, where we ate some delicious pasta!

On Sunday, we headed to Mt. Robson Provincial Park and hiked along the Berg Lake trail to Kinney Lake (4.5 km one-way), stopping for lunch at Kinney Lake. The hike was very enjoyable! On our way back towards Jasper, the group stopped at Overlander Falls (also in Mt. Robson Provincial Park). Noha, Nada and Rawane returned to Edmonton on Sunday evening, but not before stopping at Miette Hot Springs on the way back (joined by Linda and Raydene). Sandie, Ryan and Rose enjoyed pizza at the Jasper Pizza Place restaurant.

Rain showers on Sunday night and fatigued caused us to reconsider our Monday hiking plans. Linda and Raydene returned to Edmonton on the wet Monday morning. Sandie, Ryan and Rose visited Maligne Lake (still covered almost completely in ice!), ate lunch in Jasper, and then returned to Edmonton (but not before stopping at Miette Hot Springs, of course!).

Thanks all for joining us on this trip! And hopefully we’ll see you all on another event!
