Wed, May 4 2011 - Science Café: Synthetic Biology - Engineering the Building Blocks of Life (View Original Event Details)

Event Coordinator(s): Ryan
Participants:Ryan, Vadim, Brent S (Polé Polé), Linda, Angie L, Dan C, Kiersten, Denis, Penny

Write Up:
We listened to and participated in an engaging discussion about Synthetic Biology, an emerging field of science that potentially holds some promises, but like many areas of science these advances are associated with a number of complex ethical and legal challenges.

Hopefully this will be the first of many more science café events that will be organized in Edmonton. I will certainly be looking out for more, and will try to post more events like this through the EOC if I can.

Thanks all for coming out!

-Ryan

P.S. A more detailed review of the discussion at the event (and a link to some photos) is available here.
