You have to be a bit flexible during shoulder season; because of reports of snow at higher elevations, we decided to camp at Thompson Creek instead of at the Norman Lake backcountry site. We still did the same hike, and while it was a tough one, the scenery was worth the effort. We figured about 900 meters total elevation, over about 20 km of trails.

We got back to the campground at about 6:30 and ate, drank and chatted for a while before heading for our tents and a bit of sleep. Drizzle greeted us the next morning, and we struck camp, then drove down to Chepren Lake. The trail was terrible - wet, slippery and rooted, it was hard going in the rain. Not a lot of elevation, and great views of the lake at the top. It would have been a lot nicer in better weather. Instead of trying for Cirque Lake as well, we returned to the cars and headed back to Edmonton.

Thanks to everyone for coming out.
