Required Items to Bring:
  • Good, waterproof hiking boots.
  • a proper 3-season tent, or share
  • lightweight stove and pots, or share
  • water filter or water treatment tablets, or share
  • food
  • Warm clothing.
  • Rain and/or snow gear.
  • Water.
  • snacks for hike.
  • Shoulder season sleeping bag, with thermarest, rated to at least -7°C. Don't sign up if you don't have one.
  • Cash for park admission or National Park Pass
  • Recommended Items to Bring:
    Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
    • Hiking poles.
    • Bug spray abd bear spray.

    How to Get There:

    Carpool Cost: The event coordinator(s) will help you to arrange a centralized carpool if you require it, but it's not guaranteed. Please DO NOT pay your driver en route. Passengers will pay the coordinator, and he/she will distribute the money to the carpool drivers. SO PLEASE BRING CASH!!! Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $232.00 (calculated at total Km * $0.29, effective Saturday, May 4, 2024). This is based on $0.09/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divided by 9. This cost will be multiplied by the number of carpooled cars, and divided by the number of carpool participants.

    Non-Member Cost:$12.00/Person
    Cost Includes:Fees will be paid directly to the coordinator. Charges include Banff National Park wilderness camping fees @ $9.80 per person, plus a share of the $11.70 reservation fee. Fees DO NOT include: park admission, gas, food, or campsite or hostel fees for Friday night. The Thompson Creek campground charges $15.00 per night and the Shunda Creek Hostel charges about $25.00 - you will have to make your own arrengements for Friday night.
