Itinerary:

"Intermediates only please."

Due to the distance involved (13 km), you must be an intermediate cross country skier who is very strong / fit enough to stay with the group. We will be nordic skiing at a moderate cardio run like pace
but you need to be able to keep up, otherwise this event may not be for you.

There will not be a carpool for this event but if you need a ride, the coordinator will do his best to arrange something for you.

The plan is to meet at the Waskahegan parking lot at Cooking Lake Blackfoot Provincial Recreation Area at 2:20 p.m. Expect to be nordic cross country skiing for 2.5-3.0 hours or so. We will take the long way via Neon Lake/ Spruce Hollow trail to Don's Way arriving at Meadow Shelter (10.5km), where we will stop for a hopefully still-warm hot chocolate (bring your own) and a rest and some convo. From there we will head back into the sunset via the Lost Lake/ Grouse trail to Waskahegan trailhead.
*Note: this is for classic nordic cross country skiing in set tracks. Do not bring back country skis because they are too wide for the nordic tracks set by Alberta Parks. There is no room for skate skis either.

You can get a map of Blackfoot/ Islet Lake HERE.
