Itinerary:

Come and explore the trails at Chickakoo Lake Recreation Area, west of Edmonton. The trails are a series of loops so we can walk as near or as far as your legs can carry you. The terrain is gently rolling hills and the trails are well groomed and used for Cross Country Skiing all winter. There are picnic tables and outhouses along the trails.
We will leave on the hike around 1:00 if you wish to meet us at the Chickakoo parking lot and not participate in the carpool.

Required Items to Bring:
Good walking shoes.
Dress for the weather. We might have snow by then.
Water bottle.

Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
Snack to eat on the trail, money for refreshments on the way home.

How to Get There:

West on Highway 16 from Edmonton, turning north onto Highway 779 (range road 10) at the road sign. Follow the signs to Chickakoo or - left at Twp 534, right at RR 13, left to stay on RR 13 and then right at Chickakoo.

The event coordinator(s) will help you to arrange a centralized carpool if you require it, but it's not guaranteed. Please DO NOT pay your driver en route. Passengers will pay the coordinator, and he/she will distribute the money to the carpool drivers. SO PLEASE BRING CASH!!! Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $23.20 (calculated at total Km * $0.29, effective Friday, April 25, 2025). This is based on $0.09/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divided by 9. This cost will be multiplied by the number of carpooled cars, and divided by the number of carpool participants.
