Itinerary:
We will meet at 1:30 PM at Parkland County's Prospector Point to do the River Valley Alliance Trails (directions below). This walk will be at a brisk pace of ~5.2 km/hr (an intermediate pace).

The event begins at the parking lot of Prospectors Point (Across the River from the boat launch at Devon), on the North bank of the North Saskatchewan River. **Not on the Devon side** See directions below!
The trails we are doing are accessed to the North of the parking lot, and begin by going up the gravel double-wide trail and following the top of river bank for an immediate amazing view. Then it gets interesting.... (*also see our other amazing events on our homepage calendar!)...

I have classed this hike as "higher intermediate/moderate" because there are some steep sections where the trail rises and descends (including a tough section of switchbacks), which will prove challenging to many of us, but we will prevail! We will hike around 14 km round trip.

We will be on the North side of the bank with lookout views over the Voyager Park across the river, Plus a tour to the trail that leads to the University of Alberta Botanic Gardens (not as far as the Botanic Gardens, just the river valley forest sections).
Bring some snacks, as we'll need them! We will stop at Picnic Tables at the half way point.
Dogs are permitted on this event, but just a reminder (for dogs and humans alike) that this is a longer/tougher hike than other ones we tend to organize!

Please note that proper hiking footwear with good support and grip is essential, as some sections are steep and challenging, especially if underfoot conditions are wet and/or slippery.

Also please note that this is a group hike - therefore "superfast hikers" should be prepared to wait for the group as a whole throughout the whole hike.
If you're not prepared to do this, then this will not be the event for you.

Similarily - "less than superfast hikers" - please find the time to get some training hikes in before this one, so that you are not "caught cold" doing this one!

In summary, this is not an easy hike - there are lots of significant gradients throughout the whole hike and you will get a good workout! However, it is a very scenic area and well worth visiting.
