|Join us for an urban hike through the downtown
We will meet outside the Oliver Exchange building, hike down to the Promenade and then drop down just above Victoria Golf Course. We will walk along the path (we may do each of the staircases) until we cross the LRT bridge. We will then follow the river valley trail back towards Groat Road. We will cross over the river again and hike up the hill/stairs back to Oliver Exchange. The hike is around 8-10 km.
Oliver Exchange is the orginal West End Telephone Exchange that was built in 1913 to accompany an expanding demand for telephone service in the city. Oliver Exchange is now a collaorative mixed-use office, retail and workshop hub for inter- business activity and commerce in the heart of Oliver. Four great businesses in the building include: Iconoclast Coffee Shop, Culina On the Go, Brio Bakery and Odd Company Brewer.
We will meet on the corner of 120 Street and 102 Ave at 9:30 and depart at 9:35 am.
I encourage everyone to shop local. After our hike I will be donning my mask and visiting some of the great businesses in the building. Weather permitting, we can have a post hike outdoor, physically distanced coffee or tea.
Participants are encouraged to abide by physical distancing requirements (2m) and not to share water or food.
Please do not come if you are experiencing any symptoms of Covid19 or if you have been in contact with someone who is exhibiting symptoms and/or tested for COVID.
