Itinerary:
We will hike approximately 15 km depending on the group and the paths we choose. The terrain is gently rolling hills and the fall colours should be in full bloom.
We will stop at one of the shelters (probably Meadow) for lunch, and please bring enough water because there is no potable water in the park.
I tend to hike rain or shine, so if the weather is bad, bring your rain gear!

Required Items to Bring:
Good walking shoes.
Water.
Lunch in a day pack.
Clothing for the weather.
money for the carpool and possible refreshment stop on the way home.
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
Extra clothes, possibly rain gear.
Binoculars (?).

How to Get There:
Event Directions:24 km east of Sherwood Park on Wye Road. Follow the road signs. The park is on the south edge of Elk Island National Park. Park close to the wooden shelter at the Waskahegan Staging Area.

Carpool Cost: The event coordinator(s) will help you to arrange a centralized carpool if you require it, but it's not guaranteed. Please DO NOT pay your driver en route. Passengers will pay the coordinator, and he/she will distribute the money to the carpool drivers. SO PLEASE BRING CASH!!! Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $20.88 (calculated at total Km * $0.29, effective Thursday, April 25, 2024). This is based on $0.09/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divided by 9. This cost will be multiplied by the number of carpooled cars, and divided by the number of carpool participants.
