NOTE: This event is now FULL Maximum 12people at the hostel. That include a 2 queen pull out bed available on each side of the main floor.
As we will be ascending mountains on most trails. Ensure you have a good level of fitness and are able to do 3- 4 hours of snowshoeing on intermittent uphill ascents and an additional 1 - 1 1/2 hours on the way down.

Day 1 Arrival Friday: After 4 pm. Lynn will get the keys. We will meet up at the Alpine Club of Canmore anytime after 4 pm check in. Rooms will be first come first serve and based on gender when possible.

Day 2-Chester Lake 10 Km Round Trip. This is number 1 on the list for best Hikes in the area.After we return for the day, folks have the option to to go explore Canmore and if you have a vehicle or others are sharing you can go to Banff or the Hot-springs if you can arrange your own transport. There are local trials as well.Folks can have some spare time after and we will return to the hostel. Lake (10 km) after lunch and more difficult and very scenic. Number one in the area for the best spots in the Canmore area.

Sunday Day 3 - Harvey Heights and Heart Creek on the way back home. Beautiful hidden treasures. Elevation gain 300 metres and there is a couple of short steep but not dangerous areas. Great views

Day 3 - Sunday- Heart Creek and Harvie Heights(The Hidden Gems) on our way back home. We need to be out of the hostel by 11 am These two hikes can be completed in around 2-3 hours with lots of time to get back to Edmonton.

Options can be discuss as the weekend moves along.

Trails may change depending on weather/trail conditions.

Getting to the Bosewell Cabin The Alpine Club of Canada(ACC) Boswell Cabins are located 5 km east of Canmore. Cabins can accommodate up to 12 people. And there are 4 separate suites with double doors that open to both sides. There is one double bed and 1 single. (That would be cozy) One shared Shower on each side and full kitchen amenities. We will have the entire hostel to ourselves for the weekend.
We will also have full access to the main lodge which has fireplace, sitting area and games room and commercial kitchen if needed.
About the hostel: Bedding will be provided and sleeping bags are NOT permitted.
Bring your own food for the weekend. A potluck dinner may be organized if there is interest.

**To register you must first add your name to the waiting list, then pay the cost directly to the event coordinator via e- transfer to The security question is "what is the name of the cabin we are staying in? answer is 'Boswell Cabin'. Once full payment has been received, your name will be moved over to the registration.Your spot is not confirmed until full Payment has been made, regardless of where you are in the line. The hostel also has free WiFi, a games room and TV for those interested. There may be a pre-meeting scheduled the week before if there are lots of new people on the trip.

Required Items to Bring:
Water bottle, Snowshoes, poles, snow boots or hiking boots, Gators, cleats or gators are recommended. appropriate warm clothing - wear layers, gaiters, knapsack, prepared for this on trails. water bottle, cleats, layered clothing, gaiters, toiletries, food/ beverages for 2 nights 3 days, etc.
Food/beverages for all meals. Provide your self, re we can organize a potluck for some meal. Full kitchens on both sides.
Recommended Items to Bring:

Flashlight or headlight. Ziploc bags for lunches, treats, snacks, games, etc.

How to Get There:

The ACC Clubhouse and Boswell Cabin are 5 km east of Canmore, just off Hwy 1A. From the TransCanada Highway take the 1A exit (#91) and travel east approximately 1 km to Indian Flats Road (turn left), continue on the road to the top of the hill. You must park in the two lower lots near the clubhouse but can drop off your gear by driving up to the Boswell cabin and adjacent to the Bell Cabin).

Carpool Cost: The event coordinator(s) will help you to arrange a centralized carpool if you require it, but it's not guaranteed. Please DO NOT pay your driver en route. Passengers will pay the coordinator, and he/she will distribute the money to the carpool drivers. SO PLEASE BRING CASH!!! Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $97.75 (calculated at total Km * $0.23, effective Monday, February 17, 2020). This is based on $0.09/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divided by 9. This cost will be multiplied by the number of carpooled cars, and divided by the number of carpool participants.

Please pay directly to via e- transfer.Your name will add your name to the waiting list, and once payment is confirmed you will be moved on to the event registration list.
We will attempt to place same gender in rooms. There are 12 beds available. 4 rooms that sleep 3 each room and 2 sofa beds on the main floor if we have snoring issues. to accommodate additional people. It is on a first come first serve basis depending on sign up and consideration for gender.

The Coordinators may contact you to discuss your skill and fitness level to ensure you can do these hikes if you have not attended any of our previous events.
- Registration is NOT COMPLETE until you've signed up and paid by the registration cut off date. The money must be in the EOC's possession by that date. No exceptions.
- When a minimum group size appears, this is to let you know that the event will be cancelled with refunds to those who have already paid, if the minimum number of registered participants is not met. For any events where EOC needs a minimum number of participants, there will be absolutely no refunds of money if you cancel.
- We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines at all times while participating in EOC events.

There Food is the responsibility of each participant. I may organize a potluck for the Sat. night it there seems to me enough interest.

*Note: Refunds will not be issued after registration cutoff unless a replacement can me found unless the spot is filled. For refunds there is a $1.50 e-transfer fee is in effect for cancellation.
