Itinerary:

We will hike the Hayburger Trail (12.1km) at Elk Island National Park.

The trail is easy to moderate and has several rolling hills so participants should be fit and ready for a good workout. We will be maintaining a moderate pace of 4km/h with snack/water breaks when needed.

Participants should be prepared and or expect any weather possibilites for this day.

The trail crosses a black spruce bog where boreal birds and moose may be observed. The trail also winds through open aspen forest and meadows, the preferred habitat of the plains bison. The trailhead is just minutes before Astotin Lake and is signposted. If you hit Astotin Lake, you've gone a bit too far so just back track a little.

Please note that your coordinator has not hiked this particular trail previously. Please allow time and or patience for any unforseen circumstances.
