Come join us for an opportunistic photo snowshoe (or hike) to track bison and the elusive elk at Elk Island National Park along the 12 km Hayburger Trail. This will be a moderately paced hike (~4km/hr) with occasional stops to photograph wildlife or other scenic views. Photo stops will be no more than 10-15 minutes in duration depending on what we encounter. Non-photographers are welcome as this is a combination snowshoe or hike and photography trip. Please note that the expected duration of the snowshoe is 4-5 hours with photo stops and lunch, plus travel time.

This will be a snowshoe event and beginners are welcome. Let's get out and have some fun tracking wildlife! Participants should be prepared and or expect any weather possibilities for this day. Bring layers, hot drinks, your snowshoes and/or ice grips or microspikes and don't forget your cameras!

The Hayburger trail is on the north side of the highway. The trailhead is just past the Shirley Lake turnoff. If you reach Astotin Lake, you've gone too far by a couple of kilometres. Please note: there are no bathrooms at the trailhead.
