Itinerary:
Let's head out to Chickakoo for a nice Monday holiday hike!

Chickakoo Lake Recreation Area is located west of Edmonton, north of Stony Plain.
There are four interlinking trails - Indian Ridge, Natures Way, Woodland Lookout and Cranberry Corner trails, in total around 14km.
I estimate that to do all of the trails would take around 2-3 hours depending upon the pace of the group.
I would like to keep a reasonably brisk pace (up to 5km/h), but we will have a few stops to admire the views as well as a quick lunch/snack stop.

The terrain is mainly gently rolling hills, but there are one or two steeper ones too. There are picnic tables and outhouses along the trails.

There will be a carpool for this event if required - meeting at 12:00 midday at the overflow parking lot for the West Edmonton Mall, on the north side of 90 Avenue, approximately by 175 Street.
Look for me with my grey Hyundai wagon, and I will be wearing a yellow EOC cap so you can spot me.
We will be leaving from the carpool by 12:10am - please don't be late!.
If you are travelling by transit, remember that the carpool location is on the opposite side of the WEM from the transit centre, and you will need to allow approx 15 mins to walk through the Mall to the carpool.
I want to arrive at Chickakooo by 1:00pm at the latest, so 12:10pm will be the carpool departure time from the WEM - and we cannot wait for latecomers.

If you are going straight to Chickakoo, we will meet at 1:00pm at Chickakoo, and be on the trails by 1:10pm.

The meeting place at Chickakoo is the large parking lot as marked on the trail map, east of the words "The Point" on the map.
Note this is different from the first parking lot that you will see - which is a smaller one closer to the lakeside. Please continue to the larger parking lot!

Please note that the hike may be postponed / cut short in the event of heavy rain or thunderstorms. Keep an eye on the weather forecast and your emails.
