Itinerary:
Enjoy the September long weekend in wonderful Nordegg at the Shunda Creek Hostel. We will leave Edmonton Friday Sept. 4 returning Monday Sept. 7.

Saturday and Sunday we will do day hikes and Monday for those interested we will do an easy hike before heading back to Edmonton.

There are many wonderful hike options, I will look at trails close to the hostel this trip. The Coliseum Trail is for sure one of the hikes we will do. I am still debating on others. More information to follow....

Both Saturday and Sunday evening we will do a potluck dinner. Breakfast and lunch will be the responsibility of the participants.

A pre-event meeting will be held the last weekend in August to work out logistics.

Payment must be made at the time of registering for this event. As with the out of town trips I plan with a cost, you sign up on the waiting list and once you have paid, I will transfer you over to the trip. There are many new members, and I may not know you Therefore, please provide your experience in the notes box when you register.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Take highway 2 south towards Red Dear. You can turn off highway 11 towards Rocky Mnt. House or 11 A towards Sylvan Lake and enjoy a nice tour by the lake continuing south to where Sylvan Lake joins Highway 11.
Continue west on Highway 11 and Nordegg is about 1 hour from Rocky Mnt. House. The hostel is about 4 Km from the town of Nordegg.

Carpool Cost: The event coordinator(s) will help you to arrange a centralized carpool if you require it, but it's not guaranteed. Please DO NOT pay your driver en route. Passengers will pay the coordinator, and he/she will distribute the money to the carpool drivers. SO PLEASE BRING CASH!!! Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $168.78 (calculated at total Km * $0.29, effective Friday, April 26, 2024). This is based on $0.09/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divided by 9. This cost will be multiplied by the number of carpooled cars, and divided by the number of carpool participants.

Notes:
The Hostel has recently changed its process for groups 8 and over. A 20% deposit is required at the time of booking and a 28 day cancellation policy is in place. So what does this mean? I have paid a deposit for 8 people and the balance MUST be paid August 7/15.(if there is not enough interest I will cancel. This is the reason for the early cut off. Please be sure you are committed when you sign up and that you pay at the time you register.


- Registration is NOT COMPLETE until you've signed up and paid by the registration cut off date. The money must be in the EOC's possession by that date. No exceptions.
- When a minimum group size appears, this is to let you know that the event will be cancelled with refunds to those who have already paid, if the minimum number of registered participants is not met. For any events where EOC needs a minimum number of participants, there will be absolutely no refunds of money if you cancel.
- We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines at all times while participating in EOC events.
