Itinerary:
The Science in the Cinema film series is organized by Alberta Innovates - Health Solutions. All of the film screenings in the series are free (they also provide free popcorn). After the film is shown, there will be a short Q and A led by a health science researcher who will discuss science issues relating to the film.

The film that we will see is 50/50 , a 2011 comedy that stars Joseph-Gordon Levitt and Seth Rogen. 50/50 tells the story of Adam, a 27 year old writer of radio programs who is diagnosed with a rare form of spinal cancer. With the help of his best friend, his mother, and a young therapist at the cancer center, Adam learns what and who the most important things in his life are. The discussion after the movie will focus on the latest research into the physical, emotional and social aspects of cancer.

You can also watch a trailer for the film.

Please meet me inside the Garneau Theatre at 6:10 PM, outside the doors to the main auditorium. To help you spot me, I will wear a yellow ballcap with the EOC logo on it. At 6:20 (or once everyone has arrived) we'll find seats together inside the auditorium. Based on prior Science in the Cinema events that I have attended, I would expect the film screening to begin promptly at 6:30 and that the theatre will be relatively full, so if you arrive late please find your own seat inside the auditorium and let me know afterwards (by text/e-mail) so that I don't flag you as a no- show for the event.

The film is listed as 100 minutes in length and will likely end around 8:15. The Q&A that follows should last 20-30 minutes.
