Itinerary:
Start Canada Day with a nice hike in the River Valley!

Meet at the small parking lot next to the main parking lot for the Edmonton Valley Zoo, located at the eastern end of Buena Vista Road.
You can access Buena Vista Road via the traffic circle at 87 Avenue / 142 Street in the West End.

**Note that as from July 1st, the bridge on 102 Avenue over Groat Road (by the Royal Alberta Museum) will be closed long-term for bridge replacement works. Allow additional time to get to the West End**

We will meet at 10:00 am for a 10:10 start.
I will be standing by a grey Hyundai wagon and wearing a yellow EOC cap so you can recognise me.

This will be a moderate-brisk hike.

We will head north from Buena Vista Road through the doggie park and stay on the scenic trails on the west side of the river. We'll then do the long-ish steady climb to Riverside Drive and walk the short distance to Ian M's favourite viewpoint in Edmonton, where we'll spend a few minutes enjoying the view.
We'll then return to the start point direct.

Please note the following:
1/ Event duration is estimated at 2.5 hrs approx.
2/ The hike will be at a brisk pace - up to 5km/h.
3/ There is a moderate but steady climb in MacKenzie Ravine, and more of a gradient up to Riverside Drive.
4/ Dogs are welcome on this hike, please include them when you sign up.
