Itinerary:
Early season Lovely River Valley Ride! Join us for a fun, slow-paced ride in early season conditions. Recommend having studded tires... or at least a mountain bike (keep your tires a bit soft). Maybe some cycle booties as well to go over your shoes.

We'll meet at the parking lot to the west of the intersection of Groat Rd and River Valley Rd. at 1:30PM for an 1:45 sharp departure. This ride will follow a portion of the old Canadian Northern Railway line from the bottom of Groat hill along River Valley Rd, Low Level Bridge and up Mill Creek Ravine to the Velodrome. When we get to the Velodrome, we'll decide as a group if we want to continue a few blocks to the Tim Horton's for a break before we return via the same route.

This is one of our series of Lovely River Valley rides. It follows a historic railway route so grades will be gentle but the climb out of the river valley to the south is long. The reward is a long gentle coast back down on the return leg.

Required Items to Bring:
Sturdy bicycle (studded tires and/or soft mtb tires recommended), helmet, smiles and good attitude.
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
Water, basic bike repair kit, weather appropriate clothing.
$ for a snack at Tim Horton's
Cycle booties (to go over your shoes and stop your feet from freezing)

How to Get There:
Event Directions:From Westmount - south on Groat, take the right lane for River Valley Rd, turn right into the parking lot before you go under the Groat bridge.

From U of A - north on Groat, cross the bridge, exit right, right again, under the bridge then left into the parking lot.

From River Valley Rd - west under Groat bridge then left into the parking lot.

Look for the coordinator wearing (or holding) the yellow EOC Ball Cap
