Itinerary:

With the expansion of the Edmonton LRT in full swing and the connection of the North LRT NAIT portion of the line with Churchill Station in November 2012, the eyes of the City of Edmonton Transit Planning Commission have finally turned westward. The forward thinking designers of the mall anticipated this very day back in 1981during mall construction and deep below the mall sits a fully operational Multi-Level LRT station waiting for our City of Champions Transportation Department to break through the concrete membrane at the end of the platform and simply connect the tracks.
The station designed by the award winning British firm that was most recently responsible for the 2010 restoration of King's Cross Station in London England. This firm, Gambol and Japes have created a venue in the style of the greater London Underground stations complete with Fish and Chips Shop, a pub, trick & joke shop as well as shoe shine stands and numerous kiosks awaiting the arrival of the first train and the eager mall visitors. While the current LRT system can best be described as a “suburban” system, the LRT Network Plan calls for a change in approach to an “urban” LRT system. LRT would retain a dedicated right-of-way with priority, so the trains would not mix with traffic or stop at intersections. The urban approach improves connections between the LRT and city life. Diving beneath the surface just east of the Misericordia Hospital to hook up with the subterranean station located beneath the mall. The city anticipates this lines completion in late 2014
We'll meet up at the old submarine platform located on the food court side of the bridge near the sailing ship Santa Maria. Look for the EOC Yellow hat or check out my picture in the volunteer section of the web site.

Please arrive between 9:30 & 9:45 p.m. as the journey to the platform takes a while, as we'll be leaving the platform at exactly 9 & 3/4 hrs!

Enter through any doors of mall. Ask directions to the sail boat. I'll have the yellow EOC ball cap to help you locate us. You can also check out my picture in the volunteer section.
