Itinerary:
So we meet at The Mc Taggart Sanctuary Parking Lot at 9:45 & hike away at 10:00. We will cruise south on the frozen stream for two hours till we reach the Henday. There we will take a break, have a snack & a drink. Then we head back north the same way we got there. The hike usually takes 4 hours & it is glorious.Lots of time for pictures and talking.Bring yourself a snack please. SLOW PACED

Required Items to Bring:
Good warm boots.A warm hat & ggod mitts/gloves. Though not required, I strongly recommend that you buy a pair of Micro Spikes as traction help. We will be cruising on ice.
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
Micro Spikes or some other traction help would be really good. Micre Spikes cost $55.00 at several hiking stores & if you plan on doing winter hiking they are worth every penny. Hiking poles would not hurt but since there are no hills except for the beaver dams they are not necessary.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Mc Taggart Sanctary is at Smith Crossing on 23rd avenue west. To get there from Calgary Trail go west on 23 rd avenue past 119 st & down the hill. Then you must go up the hill to Terwillegar turn around & go back down the hill east bound till you come to the bridge again & right away after the bridge turn right into the parking lot. To get there from Terwillegar go east on 23rd avenue till you pass Sobeys etc... & go down the hill & turn into the parking lot just past the bridge.

Notes:
This is a slow paced hike mostly on ice at a picture taking pace. It really is beautiful down there. You wont believe that you are in the city. I've done that ice hike 2 or 3 times already.
