Itinerary:
First x-c ski of the season. Beginners and slowpokes welcome!

Cross-country ski the trails at Kingswood Park and Riverlot 56. Most of the trails are fairly flat, although there are a couple of (avoidable) steep hills in the Riverlot 56 trail system.

We will meet at the Kingswood Shelter at the Kingswood Day Area. There are racks outside for your skis, and the building is heated with picnic tables and washrooms. Very civilized.

Departing from the Kingswood Shelter, we'll head counter-clockwise on the groomed trails. We will see Riverlot 56 across Poundermaker Road. We'll have to take our skis off to walk across Poundmaker Road and get into the main Riverlot 56 trails. We will explore and enjoy the main Riverlot 56 trails, and then return across Poundmaker Road. Continuing along the Kingswood trail, after just a short distance (down a hill), we'll deke off the Kingswood trail yet again into the disembodied Riverlot 56 trails on this side of the road. There is a pleasant wooded loop trail through here. After we're finished with that loop, we'll continue on again along the Kingswood trail and stop back at the Kingswood Shelter for a break and snack.

If we want more skiing after our break, we can hook onto the Red Willow Park trails which follow the river. Leave the Shelter and head left around the building to find the trails which parallel the river.
