We will meet at Leva Cappucino Bar before heading over the University of Alberta to hear a talk by author Ronald Wright.

Drawing on his bestselling book and Massey Lectures, A Short History of Progress, Ronald Wright will discuss how our modern environmental crisis is rooted in patterns of progress and disaster that are as old as civilization itself. Fuelled by fossil carbon, the ‘experiment’ of civilization has reached such a pace and scale that it threatens to destroy the natural world on which it depends. By understanding previous mistakes and successes, we may—given luck and wisdom—chart a wiser course into the future.

Tickets for this event are to be purchased in advance through the Parkland Institute Audrey's Bookstore or Earths General Store.
