Discover The Valley! Tawatinaw Valley is one of the best lowland ski areas in Alberta. Only 1 hour north of Edmonton, near the historic Landing Trail, Tawatinaw Valley spreads over 140 acres and boasts some of the most spectacular views outside the Rocky Mountains. Well-groomed runs featuring gullies, ravines, open hills and gentle slopes provide 20 km of cross-country trails.

Rhonda will be taking a slower group if necessary. Novices and slowpokes welcome.

Required Items to Bring:
- Money for trail pass
- Skis, boots and poles (and wax, if appropriate)
- Warm clothing appropriate to the weather
- Water
- Cash (for food & refreshments at the lodge)

How to Get There:

Event Directions:

Head north on Groat Road and follow the signs - staying north for Highway 2 (road will be called St. Albert Trail, Mark Messier Trail, then Hwy 2).
Stay on Highway 2 for 64km where you have to turn right onto AB-18E/Alberta 2 to stay on Highway 2. Continue on Highway 2 for another 29km.
Turn right at the sign for Tawatinaw at AB661. Watch for a sign on the left with a left-hand turn to Tawatinaw. Turn left there. You will see the ski hill and lodge immediately on your right.
Stop in at the lodge to buy your cross-country ski pass.
After stopping at the lodge, turn left to return to AB661, then turn left to continue further down that road.
WATCH FOR a left-turn onto 240A. There is NO SIGN. Turn left and follow that road for a few kilometers until you see the Upper Lot on your left-hand side.

The event coordinator(s) will help you to arrange a centralized carpool if you require it, but it's not guaranteed. Please DO NOT pay your driver en route. Passengers will pay the coordinator, and he/she will distribute the money to the carpool drivers. SO PLEASE BRING CASH!!! Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $55.68 (calculated at total Km * $0.29, effective Friday, April 25, 2025). This is based on $0.09/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divided by 9. This cost will be multiplied by the number of carpooled cars, and divided by the number of carpool participants.
