Itinerary:

What better to do in shoulder season than hang out at a Ranch?

Come learn to ride a horse, pan for some gold, and go hiking in nearby Sandhills Wildland Park.

We will stay in rustic cabins and have a barbecue and potluck Saturday night (please let me know if you can bring a portable bbq). There is even a fire pit! Cabins hold 2-3 people and have mainly single beds. There are 2 double beds however, so if you are a couple and would like a double bed, please email me and let me know. There are no kitchen facilities, but there is a shed with a refrigerator that you can put your food in and there are picnic tables. Some cabins share a separate shower building.

On Saturday, half of us will learn to ride (they can only take 7-8 at a time) and the other half will go hiking in the park. On Sunday we switch.

Required Items to Bring:
All of your food for the weekend
Hiking gear and water bottles
Overnight stuff
Steak or other item for your barbecue meat
A potluck item like salad or buns or dessert
Please indicate in notes section when you sign up what potluck item you are bringing and if you can bring a bbq

Look for the Horse Creek Ranch sign and head towards Fort Assiniboine (go right). Go straight through town and look for smaller signs with arrows at the intersections (HCR). You will find the ranch 12 km east of Fort Assiniboine. Follow the signs!

There is a map on the Horse Creek Ranch web site.
If you really get lost, their number is 780-584-2535.

Passengers will pay the coordinator, and he/she will distribute the money to the carpool drivers. SO PLEASE BRING CASH!!! Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $92.80 (calculated at total Km * $0.29, effective Tuesday, April 30, 2024). This is based on $0.09/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divided by 9. This cost will be multiplied by the number of carpooled cars, and divided by the number of carpool participants.
