Itinerary:
We will head out to the Entrance Ranch near Hinton on Friday night and set up our tents.

On Saturday, we will go for a 2 hour ride horseback ride. We will head onto historic trails with spectacular mountain views and ride through mature evergreen forests. Don't forget your camera!

After horseback riding it's off to Grande Cache for dinner to relax with a free evening of dining and hiking near the townsite. We will be staying at the Grande Cache Municipal Campground on Saturday night.

On Sunday, we will spend an afternoon on the river with with Wild Blue Yonder on their Sulphur River trip(class II - III). Paddles, wetsuits, helmets and lifejackets will be provided, so you just need to bring your swimsuit and towel for the rafting.

We'll depart Grande Cache in the late afternoon and be back in Edmonton in the evening.

NOTE:
This is a first paid first get on event. If you want to get on, send us your payment first and when someone on the main list does not make the payment you'll get to be moved up. Any overbooking will be fully refunded.


Required Items to Bring:
For Rafting: swimsuit, shoes that can get wet (sport style sandals work the best), towel

For Horseback Riding: Long pants and a good sturdy pair of shoes with a heel, a well fitting hat, sunglasses, jacket or warm sweater. Backpacks and sandals are not allowed, but you may bring rain gear.

For hiking: Clothing appropriate for the weather, which may include rain, hiking boots with good soles and good ankle support

How to Get There:
Event Directions:For Entrance Ranch: From Highway 16 (west out of Edmonton)
turn north (left) on Hwy 40 towards Grand Cache 5kms before the town of Hinton
cross the Athabasca River bridge and up the hill
continue on Hwy 40 past the turn off for Old Entrance at the top of the hill
continue on Hwy 40 slowing after 1 km to turn right into the ranch at the wooden sign post to the road entrance

For Grande Cache: From Old Entrance, head back to Forestry Trunk Road/AB-40 and turn left.

Carpool Cost: The event coordinator(s) will help you to arrange a centralized carpool if you require it, but it's not guaranteed. Please DO NOT pay your driver en route. Passengers will pay the coordinator, and he/she will distribute the money to the carpool drivers. SO PLEASE BRING CASH!!! Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $251.72 (calculated at total Km * $0.29, effective Thursday, May 2, 2024). This is based on $0.09/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divided by 9. This cost will be multiplied by the number of carpooled cars, and divided by the number of carpool participants.

Notes:

- Registration is NOT COMPLETE until you've signed up and paid by the registration cut off date. The money must be in the EOC's possession by that date. No exceptions.
- When a minimum group size appears, this is to let you know that the event will be cancelled with refunds to those who have already paid, if the minimum number of registered participants is not met. For any events where EOC needs a minimum number of participants, there will be absolutely no refunds of money if you cancel.
- We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines at all times while participating in EOC events.
