Itinerary:
The skiing season has begun (and hopefully the snow will stay)! Come out for a relaxing cross-country ski at the Strathcona Wilderness Centre. We will ski at an easy pace, but some experience on skis is recommended. If you don't have skis, you can rent them from the Wilderness Centre for $18. The Wilderness Centre has many short trails, and we will likely explore several of the them with a stop for lunch inside. See the Strathcona Wilderness Centre website for a trail map and more details.

Please note that your coordinator has not skied this area previously.

Required Items to Bring:
$3.60 for trail pass
Warm clothing appropriate to the weather
Lunch and snacks
Water (at least 2 litres)
Cross-country skis (and wax, if appropriate) or money to rent them

How to Get There:
Event Directions:The Strathcona Wilderness Centre is located 20 minutes east of Sherwood Park on Township Road 530 (Baseline Road) and Range Road 212.

To get there, travel east on highway 16. Turn right at Range Road 215 and go 3.2 km. Turn left at Township Road 530 and go 4.9 km. Turn right at Range Road 212 and go 1.0 km. Arrive at 52535 Range Road 212 Strathcona County, AB

Carpool Cost: The event coordinator(s) will help you to arrange a centralized carpool if you require it, but it's not guaranteed. Please DO NOT pay your driver en route. Passengers will pay the coordinator, and he/she will distribute the money to the carpool drivers. SO PLEASE BRING CASH!!! Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $23.20 (calculated at total Km * $0.29, effective Thursday, May 2, 2024). This is based on $0.09/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divided by 9. This cost will be multiplied by the number of carpooled cars, and divided by the number of carpool participants.
