Write Up:
We hiked the historic Athabasca Landing Trail, as well as the official section of the current Trans Canada Trail that the Town of Gibbons built and maintains. The trail follows old tracks of freight wagons that brought goods from Fort Edmonton to Athabasca Landing in the late 1800's and the trail can still been seen today marked by old wagon ruts that cuts trough the old Gibbons family homestead. The Gibbons homestead was the first stop on the Athabasca Landing Trail just before the turn of the century and people were often found sleeping on the floors en route to Athabasca as Mrs. Gibbons was well known for her good cooking and hospitality.

Thank you to everyone who hiked with us on the trip back in history. It was a great way to get out and enjoy the outdoors on a not so sunny Sunday.
