Write Up:
Well we certainly were a hardy group. The rain did not stop us from completing the planned loop from the Fringe Festival. We travelled west along the River Valley Road past the Dragon Boat Festival and saw teams dressed in costume just finishing the race. Miriam from our group suggested that maybe the EOC enter a boat in next years competition. Sounds like the genesis of possible event next year. We then travelled south along the top of the river valley and took a vertical plunge down the slope across the river from Hawrelak park. A few of us had never attempted vertical dirt trails before and after lots of deep breaths we managed to all make it safely to the rivers edge. We could hear golf claps across the river from the LPGA tournament which was encouraging because it was not just us braving the elements. After passing through Buena Vista park and Laurier park we crossed the river near Fort Edmonton Park and headed east up the old Kiellor Road switch back and then along scenic Saskatchewan Drive back to the Fringe Festival. We all would have liked to have ordered sunshine and no rain for the day but there’s always next time. Live and let bike. Rain or shine (or blizzard).
