Boy, did you miss out!

It was chilly on the morning of the hike, but well within acceptable limits. Just -19°C in Edmonton, and no wind to speak of. Because of the possibility of slippery road conditions, we decided to move the hike to Chickakoo instead of driving 100 km to Tawantinaw.

The trails weren't quite snow-covered enough for snowshoes, although Eileen wore hers just for the workout, and others wore cleats or just relied on the lugs of their boots (and their poles) for traction. The hills were slippery, but except for the occasional bum-slide, we managed without mishap. We did about 9 km - it's harder and slower to walk in 4" of snow than on bare trails - and it took about 3 hours.

A beautiful day, that warmed up to -12 by the time we were done, with sunny skies and nice fresh snow. Lots of fun and a good group. Thanks for sticking with it, people. More fun to come all winter; watch for the next snowshoe events when we'll have more snow to play in.
