We owe a vote of thanks to two EOC members who live out near Tawatinaw. Janet and Lorna have a lot of knowledge about the trails we were hiking on and we got to explore a few beautiful ones that we would otherwise have missed.

We left West Edmonton Mall right on time at 9:00AM, and in a number of cars made our way to the Tawatinaw ski area. Despite a few wrong turns, everyone arrived safely and we started our hike by around 10:45AM.

We hiked up and and down into the valley and back a couple of times, and discovered some old abandoned homesteads and a variety of rusting equipment. Lots of stops for photos, and we made our way across the bluffs to pause eventually for lunch at the top of a ski hill. Great views and a nice day.

A bit more through a cow pasture and up a few more hills, and we made our way back to the cars. Total distance was 12-14 km and took about three and a half hours of hiking. Back to Edmonton by 3:00PM.

Thanks to everyone for coming out, and again, a special thank you to our guides.
