Itinerary:
Please note that the nature walk segment of this event has been cancelled.

We plan on leaving Edmonton at 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday and arriving in Willmore Provincial Park (north of Hinton) at around 9 o'clock. We will then meet up with Laura Rutter, naturalist and owner of Rocky Mountain Escape, for our 3 hour nature walk along Willow Creek Trail. Afterwards, we will have lunch and then gather our backpacks for our hike into Carson Creek campground, where we will set up base camp for the next 2 nights. The next day, we will take our daypacks and lunch and hike up and along the Wildhay and Bury Ridges. Please note, the distance we will cover on this day will be approximately 25 km; you must be a strong hiker to do this. We will then return to camp for the evening. On day 3, we will hike back to the Rock Lake Staging Area parking lot and drive to Miette Hotsprings for a well-deserved cleanup and soaking.

Please be aware that there will be a river fording required on the Wildhay River. Normally the river is only knee-deep but could be higher after a heavy rain. Sandals and a good walking stick or hiking poles are highly recommended.

Also note: you will be initially placed on the waiting list for this event until you have paid, at which time you will then be added to the main registrants list. Due to the short sign-up period for this event, please submit payments using electronic methods ONLY (PayPal or PC Banking) and NOT by cheque. Refunds will be given only if another EOC member signs up to take your place.
