Itinerary:
I am hoping to get a nice spring hike of two mountains near the Nordegg hostel. There might be some lingering snow on the trail so please be aware we might encounter some postholing, hopefully not enough to deter us from reaching the summits of both peaks. You should be comfortable with hiking at a moderate pace with several hundred metres elevation over a few kms. Your co-ordinator has never hiked these trails before, please allow time and patience for any unforseen situations.

Our plan will be to leave Edmonton on the Friday and drive directly to the Shunda (Baldy) Mountain trailhead and hike the 4km to the summit. Once down, we'll head to the Nordegg hostel for dinner, maybe a game or two, and sleep.

On Saturday, we'll hike up Coliseum Mountain after which we'll drive back to Edmonton arriving sometime in the evening.

Here are the stats: Shunda (Baldy) Mountain (2080m): 8km return and about 460m elevation gain. Coliseum Mountain (2040m): 17km return and about 680m elevation gain.

I will not be making reservations for the group at the hostel. You are required to contact the hostel and make your own registration after which email me and I'll place you from the waiting list to the event attendee list. Phone number for the hostel is 403-721-2140. It is about $28/person/night at the hostel for non-members in the dorm room. Email me if you have any questions. I will be limiting this trip to 9 people total.
