Itinerary:
On May 23rd, 2009 over 2,000 fellow Edmontonians will descend upon Foote Field to stare cancer in the face and say... "we have and will beat you"!

If you or someone you know of has been affected by cancer this is your opportunity to celebrate life... and provide HOPE to the millions of people that will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.

The Canadian Cancer Society "Relay For Life" is more than just a fundraiser. It is an opportunity to get together with family and friends and celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer, and fight back in the hope of finding a cure for this terrible disease.

Relay is fun, fulfilling, and your participation gives strength to our mission to eradicate cancer. Walk with us in this inspirational 12-hour overnight event as we come together and fight to make cancer history.

Why Team Edmonton Outdoor Club:
Many of us in the club have friends, family and co-workers that have been affected by cancer. In fact, some EOC members have been diagnosed with cancer at some point in their life. This is an opportunity for us as a club to make a difference in our community for people we know and people we have never met that have been or will be diagnosed with cancer. Together we will be working as a team to raise money to fund cancer research, support and prevention programs as well as funding the Canadian Cancer Society’s unique volunteer driver program.

How it works:
  • Teams of 10 or more are given a tent site within “tent city” that they get to decorate according to their theme. (I imagine ours will be the coolest outdoorsy looking site ever!) This site will be your home for the next 12 hours while you walk around the track and celebrate life with 2,000 others.
  • All food will be provided but you are welcome to bring outside food in to drink and eat. Please keep in mind this is a family event so there is no alcohol permitted.
  • Teams are encouraged to do some fundraising to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society, which will be utilized for funding cancer research, support and prevention programs as well as their unique volunteer driver program.
Team EOC and our mission:
  • To have fun
  • To make a difference by raising funds
  • To work as a team
