Trip to Hinton and Jasper

We will meet at 5PM at a carpool location (See below). Our departure time is 515/530PM at the latest. Carpool arrangements will be decided before hand, please indicate if you prefer to be passenger or driver. Payments for gas/carpooling will be decided before hand. We should be arriving in at our destination at 8/830PM. Please bring your own food for lunch. We enjoy dinners as a group at a restaurant. Breakfast is provided at the hotel.

The group will check into the hotel, and then head out for dinner to make plans for next day

Please send in payments of $140 to bmk@ualberta.ca. Please indicate if you are willing to drive or be a passenger. What is your restaurant preference. If you are buying a discovery lesson or getting a half day lift ski pass instead. If you are bringing own gear.


Required Items to Bring:

  • snow pants
  • winter gear and wind proof clothing regardless of the weather forecast
  • Water 1-2L
  • Lunch/snacks (no peanuts or peanut butter ***allergies)
  • Gloves and hat
  • skates and ski gear
  • Cup for tea/coffee

How to Get There:
Carpool to Event Distance (round trip):900Km

Carpool Cost: The event coordinator(s) will help you to arrange a centralized carpool if you require it, but it's not guaranteed. Please DO NOT pay your driver en route. Passengers will pay the coordinator, and he/she will distribute the money to the carpool drivers. SO PLEASE BRING CASH!!! Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $261.00 (calculated at total Km * $0.29, effective Friday, December 26, 2025). This is based on $0.09/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divided by 9. This cost will be multiplied by the number of carpooled cars, and divided by the number of carpool participants.

  • Half day ski pass: 124 + gst
  • Discover packages include: Full-day equipment rental, Discover lift tickets and 2 hour lesson for 155 dollars. Discover lift tickets are valid only for the Magic Carpet, School House Chair and 2 runs on the Eagle Express Quad.
