****Please be aware that conditions could be mixed at this time of the year - Event will take place rain or shine. In the event of trail closures an alternative hike will be selected.

Distance: 8km return

We will meet at 6:15am at a carpool location (tbd). Our departure time is 630am at the latest. Carpool arrangements will be decided before hand, please indicate if you prefer to be passenger or driver. Payments for gas/carpooling will be decided before hand: cost TBD. Everyone will be moved to waitlist initially but once your ability is assessed you will be moved onto the list. APPROX cost per person will be 50 dollars for carpool: 4 people per car. The passengers will provide the driver their carpool amount to cover cost of gas and car maintenance. We should be arriving in at our destination at 11 -11:30am. Please bring your own food for lunch and supper. We have a very quick planned stop in Edson, and a longer (30 min) stop in Hinton at The Old Grind cafe.

From Miette Hot Springs we will head out on the trail at 11:30 am - 12:00 pm and stop for a meal break along the trail. The ascend will take us anywhere between 4 to 6 hours over 8 kms in total with an elevation gain of 700 m. The trail will split at Shuey Pass at the 2.5km mark. We will keep right and continue up the Skyline trail until we reach a meadow. This meadow will be a great spot to stop for lunch and a chance to change into some warmer wind proof clothing before heading up on the steeper exposed section of the hike. If everything goes according to plan, we should be done our descend at 6pm.

After the hike, those that need a repose from the climb are more then welcome to unwind at the hot springs. The Miette Springs are opened until 9 pm.

NOTE THE PLANNED HIKE MAY CHANGE DEPENDING ON WEATHER CONDITIONS. NO WORRIES, THIS AREA HAS LOTS OF AWESOME HIKES TO CHOOSE FROM.

The event coordinator(s) will help you to arrange a centralized carpool if you require it, but it's not guaranteed. Please DO NOT pay your driver en route. Passengers will pay the coordinator, and he/she will distribute the money to the carpool drivers. SO PLEASE BRING CASH!!! Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $211.70 (calculated at total Km * $0.29, effective Thursday, June 5, 2025). This is based on $0.09/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divided by 9. This cost will be multiplied by the number of carpooled cars, and divided by the number of carpool participants.
