Itinerary:
*Updated Wednesday Change of location to Winter hike night in wind sheltered Ravine to the Flying Canoe Festival and Bonfires!!
Join one of Edmonton's great winter celebrations! The Flying Canoe Volant is a creative, interactive, and cultural event that celebrates local history and everything that is great about a long winter's night. Loosely based on the legend of the Flying Canoe, and on French- Canadian, First Nation, and Métis traditions, the Flying Canoe Volant invites you for a nighttime adventure in Edmonton's French Quarter and along the illuminated trails of the Mill Creek Ravine.

From the Shamrock Curling Club parking lot we will hike on the lower forested gravel trails. Because the trails can be snow packed and icy, good traction boots are required.

Part way through the hike (part way down the ravine, 15 minutes into the hike) we will enter into the Flying Canoe Volant Festival in the lower portion of Mill Creek Ravine.
The Flying Canoë Volant festival tells the stories of French-Canadian, First Nations and Métis cultures through the lighted prisms of an interactive Prairies winter adventure.

After the tour of the Ravine we will go for snacks and refreshments at The Shamrock Curling Club Lounge. The lounge is upstairs separate from the arena (they accept Interac, cash, or credit card). They have a concession downstairs if you want food, which you can bring back upstairs to join the group. *If you don't wish to come inside to pub our cars are there, so totally your choice.

**Please be aware with wintery weather, the trail could be slippery in some sections. Ice cleats that go over your boots are recommended. These can be found at Mountain Equipment Coop, or other sporting stores.
You could encounter muddy, icy, snowy conditions, etc – dress accordingly.

Please take note of the required items and come prepared for snow and the cold.

**If you choose to drink at the lounge, please drink responsibly**
