Itinerary:
Experience the unforgettable sights and sounds of the world’s fastest growing water sport as it come to life on the North Saskatchewan River in the heart of Edmonton’s River Valley.

Join us on your schedule and availability for an weekend of entertainment, food and drinks at the Edmonton Dragon Boat Festival. The closest we will get this year to live Asian Olympic like races. Cheer on our EOC team the Edmonton Outdoor Dragons! (Look for the light yellow t-shirts).
Open invitation NO PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED (The more the merrier). Feel free to sign up on the waitlist as a show of who is interested (This is a late note added after posting which may not accurately reflect interest).

-Friday, August 22:
6:00 pm Official opening ceremony
6:45 pm Lion Dance performed by Borneo Lion Dancers, Traditional Blessings of the boats
7:30 - 9:00 pm Challenge Cup Preliminaries
7:30 - Edmonton Outdoor Dragons
6:00 - 10:00 pm Beer gardens open

-Saturday, August 23:
8:00 am - 5:00 pm Races go every 15 minutes.
Each team races two times.
8:00 am - Edmonton Outdoor Dragons
Total elapsed time determines placement for Sunday’s semi-finals.
11:00 am - 7:00 pm Beer gardens open
11:00 am- 2:00 pm Entertainment Program on the Heritage Stage
12:45 pm - Edmonton Outdoor Dragons
8:00 pm to close Dancing Dragons Paddlers Party. Everyone welcome

-The Edmonton Dragon Boat Festival Association (EDBFA) is a non-profit organization which promotes Dragon Boat racing and its multicultural celebration in the City of Edmonton.
Association Objectives:
- Promote the sport of Dragon Boat racing for fun and recreation in Edmonton
- Introduce Asian culture, friendship and promote multiculturalism Membership
The EDBFA welcomes any interested community members with passion for community involvement and dragon boat racing.

Introducing Canadian Country Music Artist Amy Nelson Sunday Aug 24 @ Noon:
When Amy Nelson is on stage, no one in the audience sits still for long. This 23-year-old singer, songwriter and keyboard player from Regina, Saskatchewan has a powerful voice and an infectious sense of fun. She engages audiences young and old with her lively interpretation of contemporary country music by artists such as Terri Clark, Sugarland and the Dixie Chicks and with her own songs. She connects so well with audiences that they quickly feel as if they are involved in the show.

Silent Auction:
Located on the Festival site in the merchandise tent all weekend, as well as at the paddler party, the 2008 silent auction will close Sunday afternoon at 2pm (Aug. 24) at the Festival. ATM is on Site.Bid Early, bid often! Items include: 2009 Edmonton Festival Team Entry, hotel stays, City of Edmonton Recreation passes, golf passes and more! We will accept cheques for items over $100.00.

Family Fun Entertainment:
A variety of performances happening Saturday and Sunday from 11am-2pm, on the Heritage Stage across from the food marketplace. Entertainment schedules are available in the information tent.

50/50 Draw:
Tickets are 3 for $2.00 or 10 for $5.00, available in the merchandise tent or from roaming sellers. One draw only on Saturday, Aug 23 at 4 pm. Winning numbers will be posted in the merchandise tent.

Dancing Dragons Paddler Party:
Time to relax after the first round of racing! Saturday, Aug 23. Mingle with paddlers and enjoy dancing, light snacks, Silent Auction and door prizes. Tickets available at the practice trailer and at the merchandise tent at the festival. Doors open at 8pm, No Minors, Cash only please. Open to the public. Location is:

Festival Souvenirs:
Beat sticks to cheer on your favourite team, jewellery, clothing, binoculars and stadium seats, as well as a selection of Asian items. Available in the merchandise tent. Ask about sale items! Cash only please. ATM is on Site.

NO PARKING there or at the Queen’s Lot during the Festival. Park near Muttart, Henrietta Muir, Riverdale community, take ETS, carpool, bike or hoof it. Please see the ETS Trip Planner for routes and bus times.
