I figure what better place to hold a "Back Pack Conditioning" hike than in the Rocky Mountains. We will do day-hikes together as a group with half to full packs, taking in the sights and wildlife of the beautiful Siffleur Falls area Saturday and Shunda Mountain on Sunday: a 360 degree panorama that takes in both the forest-carpeted foothills and the snow-caps of the Rocky Mountains is your reward for this short, steep walk up a fire road. (note: this is an exploratory weekend as I have not previously travelled these particular trails).
We will keep a fairly brisk pace with some steep hills. At least two Edmonton area "Hills and Drills" or "Backpack Conditioning" hikes are a recommended prerequisite to this event.

We will be staying at the HI-Shunda Creek Hostel in David Thompson Country Friday night, Saturday and leave late Sunday afternoon.
See website for more information on the hostel. We will be staying in a co-ed dorm cabin. Clean bedding will be provided by the hostel and sleeping bags are NOT permitted (due to sanitary reasons).

Saturday night will be a pot luck supper. These are always a great mixer to kick off the fun and games on Saturday night. Sunday afternoon we will meet at Boston Pizza in Rocky Mountain house, after our hike on the way back to Edmonton, for Supper.
