Itinerary:

Sentinel Pass: In late September and Early October the yellow larches along this trail are a magnificent sight. In the fall season this trail is quite popular. The increased traffic in the area is good news for us since there are frequent bear warnings. Hiking in groups of 4 or more is a requirement on this hike. There's a nice meadow at the top of the pass, which permits views of the peaks around you, including the Valley of the Ten Peaks. The trail dips back into the larches for a bit then clears the tree line at the base of Sentinel Pass.

Elevation Gain: 732m
Distance: 12km return

We will meet at 6:45am at the Starbucks in Hamptons. Directions attached below. Our departure time is 7:15am at the latest. Carpool arrangements will be decided between yourselves once everyone gets here but be prepared to drive. Please arrange your own payments for gas/carpooling. We should be arriving in Canmore at 11am, just in time for the check in, into our two bedroom apartment. (Two queen sized beds and a pull out couch available) I can accommodate 4 people in Canmore. The rest of the group will need to arrange their own accommodation. See booking details below for alternative options.

From Canmore we will make our way to the trail access point: Moraine Lake Parking Lot. This hike will be completed on day one of the trip. On day two we will decide as a group where we want to explore. :)

Accommodation for Canmore apartment is now full! Please arrange alternative accommodation, preferably in Canmore.

ALTERNATIVE ACCOMMODATION OPTION: For a similar price you could also reserve a spot in the Samesun Hostel in Banff. You must arrange the booking of the reservation ahead of time by calling 1-877-972-6378. A more preferable accommodation would be in Canmore however so that the group can meet easily. There are a number of hostels in Canmore with a few spots still available.

If you are staying in Banff you need to pay ahead of time when making your reservation. (Let me know once you have reserved your spot and I will add you to the attendee list) If you intend on staying in Canmore at the Chalet you will pay at the carpool or later. Please note I only have two more spots left for Canmore. The Banff hostel has 8 more beds available as of today. Price is the same for both. Please let me know where you intend to stay.
