Itinerary:

One of Canada’s marquee ice sculpture festivals, and part of the Winter Lights Festival, Ice on Whyte is an adventure in ice sculpture, building, and play.
Local and international ice carvers will create a gallery of temporary art, while the festival hosts a warm-up tent with coffee, hot chocolate, and entertainment.

We will attend on the evening of Saturday January 23rd. We will meet at 6:15 PM, at Block 1912 Cafe on Whyte Ave, east of 104 Street, then we will make our way down to the Festival site around 6:30 PM.

Dogs are allowed at the festival, but must be secured to a leash at all times while within the festival grounds. Tickets to the festival cost $7, and they may be either purchased at the gate or in advance (visit https://iceonwhyte.tickit.ca/events/997-ice-on- whyte-2016 ot purchase tickets.) There is an extra service fee if you buy your tickets in advance, but the advantage is that you don't have to wait in line to buy tickets.

There are typically ice slides at the festival, so I would recommend wearing snow pants (or some other pants that you don't mind getting cold/wet) if you're up for testing out the slides.

I will be wearing or carrying a yellow EOC baseball cap so you can recognise me in the cafe.

It is around a 5 min walk between the cafe and the Festival site. We will look around the site for as long as people want (depending upon how cold it is) and tour around the ice sculptures and the other entertainment and fun that is on offer.

Afterwards, we can go for drinks and/or snacks at one of the many nearby eateries.

Note: please keep an eye on the weather forecast and your emails before the event, in case of any issues with the weather etc.
If this is the case, the event could be rescheduled for another date.
