Itinerary:
Yoho Iceline: Possibly one of the most spectacular hikes in the Rockies, with close-up views of numerous glaciers, one of the highest waterfalls in Canada (Takakkaw Falls), peaks of mountains, and much more.
Probably called Iceline because is follows the lower edge of several (unfortunately fast- receding) glaciers in Yoho NP, you will get great views of Takakkaw Falls, the Daly Glacier above it that feeds it and the Yoho River, and great views of numerous other glaciers.
A must-do trail, which can only be done in summer and early fall as the access road gets closed when the snows come.

FRIDAY
Meet at carpool and drive to Whiskey Jack Hostel. The earlier we can leave the better so we don't arrive really late. I'm planning on leaving as close to 1:00 pm as I can (for my carpoolees)

SATURDAY
We will pack our day packs with lunch, lots of water and head out early. The trail starts just behind the hostel.
The GPS data for this trail is for a day hike, along the main trail starting near Takakkaw Falls, and goes 6.6 k in each direction to the Iceline Summit. TOTAL DISTANCE - its a long day, about 14 km total hiking. But stunning views of an amazing area. We will be hiking at a moderate pace, not speedy, with lots of stops and time for photos.
To Iceline Summit, keep right at all junctions, except the junction to Celeste Lake, where you continue straight ahead (it's at 5.7 k, just before the summit).

Directions:
From Banff or Lake Louise, drive west on Highway 1 (Trans Canada Highway) into BC to the turn north to Takakkaw Falls in Yoho National Park. (You will need to purchase or have an appropriate National Parks pass.) The parking area at the end of the road to Takakkaw Falls is 13.3 km north from Highway 1. (The turn to Takakkaw Falls is 3.6 km east of Field, B.C. (The turn is approximately 60 km east of Golden, B.C. and about 205 km east of Revelstoke, B.C., both of which are located on Highway 1)

SUNDAY
We will pack up our things and go to Lake Louise for a beautiful hike before heading home.
The Plain of the 6 Glaciers is a Great Hike that offers some fantastic views of Banff Park and Lake Louise. And at the top, theres Applie pie and tea at the tea house!! The first 2.5 km of the hike serves as a good warmup, this stretch is essentially flat, and can be crowded but once we get past the lake, the crowds thin out. The trail then runs along the delta formed at the west end of Lake Louise where the route starts to climb. The slide-created meadows are home to many mammals, including hoary marmots. After some switch backs, we start to climb through the larches and the moraine, and arrive at the Plain of Six Glaciers Teahouse. Arrival at the teahouse reveals the complement of six glaciers that gives it the name, on Mountains Aberdeen, Lefroy, and Victoria. You reach the zone of the subalpine larch at the teahouse. In Autumn, the needles of the larche trees turn a brilliant golden hue before dropping off, so we may see some brilliant colors since it will be late August.
Distance: 5.5 km (3.4 mi) To the teahouse– Lake Louise to Plain of Six Glaciers teahouse, plus the hike to look at the glaciers after the teahouse, which is an additional 1.5 km. TOTAL DISTANCE 14 KM ROUND TRIP Elevation Gain: 370 m (1215 ft) Maximum Elevation: 2100 m (6890 ft)
