Itinerary:

Located in Kananaskis Country, Peter Lougheed Provincial Park has towering mountains, pristine lakes, evergreen valleys and glacial streams. This park is is an area of striking contrasts where you can re-establish your links with wilderness.

The plan for our camping trip is to travel out to Peter Lougheed Provincial Park on Friday, where we will set up camp at the Boulton Creek campground. Once we have set up camp we will socialize and roast marshmallows.

We are also interested in doing some biking while we're staying at the park. So, on Saturday those that are interested can join us on an optional bike ride. All participants must wear helmets. We will be biking the Wheeler and Lodgepole Trails (approx. 18km return) to Canyon Campground. The trailhead for the Wheeler trail is located beside the Boulton Creek Trading Post. Once we arrve at Canyon Campground we will park our bikes and check out the Kananaskis Canyon Interpretive Trail. At 0.8km, it's a short easy hike.

On Sunday, we will pack up our camp bright and early in the morning. We plan to canoe Lower Kananaskis Lake , beginning our paddle at approximately 10:30 AM. The boat launch is located at the Canyon day use area. Lower Kananaskis Lake is a beautiful, crystal clear mountain lake. The lake is part of a series of man-made and natural lakes created for hydro-electric power in the 1950s. The canoe trip is also optional.
All participants must wear life jackets at all times while on the water.
All participants must know how to swim.

Bikes and/or canoes/kayaks can be rented on site at Boulton Creek Rentals.
