Itinerary:

For those capable and experienced persons who may have a holiday this Monday.

We will drive to Calgary on Sunday evening and stay at the youth hostel in Calgary. You are responsible for contacting the hostel and making your own reservation for Sunday night. As of now there are 25+ beds still available. 1-403-269-8239 (direct line to Calgary hostel) or 1(866) 762-4122 Toll Free Reservations.

We are meeting two other hikers at the trailhead at Little Elbow Recreation Area (45mins from SW Calgary) at 8am. We will need to leave the hostel at 6:30am SHARP!

We will gear up at the trailhead and hike 7km towards the SW ridge of Forgetmenot and gain the highpoint of the ridge. The initial 700m of elevation gain is steep. Once at the ridge, it is a pleasant and easy 3km from this point to the true summit (2332m) of Forgetmenot. A return distance of about 20km and cumulative elevation gain of about 900m or less. Our return time should be 6-8 hours. This mountain does lie in the dry front range mountains and winds can be strong here. An excellent resource is Gillean Daffern's "Kananaskis Country trail guide - Volume 2" pp 253-4.

For the safety and enjoyment of others on this trip. Only those in good physcial shape with prior hiking experience should participate. Expect some snow and ice on the trail and plan accordingly. You should be comfortable hiking in late season and or winter like conditions. Also, your co-ordinator has not done this hike before so please allow time and patience for any unforseen circumstances. Note the list of required items and or recommended items.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Basically, I am going with 2 friends and thought I would open this up to any interested and capable persons.
