Itinerary:
This is a back pack conditioning hike, it is more difficult than an urban hike. It is also one of several prerequisite hikes to qualify for a Mountain area back-pack trip

It is Spring and time for some exercise, no better place than the river valley and some of the challenging stairs it provides. So come on out and get fit for the hiking season.

We will meet in the parking lot of the Drive Stairs by the Alfred H. Savage Centre at 7:05 p.m. for registration and leaving at 7:15PM. for the hike. The extra light means we can make a later start. Come well hydrated and keep your dinner light.
We could encounter slippery conditions, dress accordingly. We will start our hike by going around the fox drive stairs. We will climb the 240 step staircase and loop around on the path back to the base of the stairs that we will do two to three more times. Then we will proceed on through to Snow Valley and do the ski hill, conditions permitting. We will then follow the easy route back to our cars.

After the hike we will do some comparisons of the different types of back-pack stoves and fuel system. At least three stoves with 3 different fuel types. I will bring a propane-butane stove as well as a white gas stove that has been around for a long time. I also have a back-packer wood stove so you do not have to carry fuel. Bring yours along so the group can see some differences and make their own choice.

The event should be about two hours long.
Be sure to bring water and if need be, trail mix, power bars, to keep hydrated and energized during the hike..
event may be cancelled if the weather is inclement. Please check your emails the day of the event. Thanks.
