Itinerary:
This is a back pack conditioning hike, it is more difficult than an urban hike. It is also one of several prerequisite hikes to qualify for a Mountain area back-pack trip

It is Spring and time for some exercise, no better place than the river valley and some of the challenging stairs it provides. So come on out and get fit for the hiking season.

We will meet in the parking lot at Fort Edmonton Park at 6:55 p.m. for registration and leaving at 7:10PM. for the hike.
Could encounter slippery conditions, dress accordingly. We will start with our hike past Fort Edmonton to the new Fort Edmonton Foot bridge. We will cross the bridge and encounter a 200 step staircase that we will do two times. Then we will proceed on through Patricia ravine into Quesnell and Rio Terrace past Laurier to the Quesnell bridge back to our cars.
The event should be about two hours long.

If the weather is decent, we will do a tent and tarp comparison at the end of the hike. Bring your tent so that new comers can see the differences in the designs. I will bring my 2 lb, 3 man tent tarp-tent that uses hiking poles for support and also my Hubba-Hubba that can also be set up in the rain.

Be sure to bring water and if need be, trail mix, power bars, to keep hydrated and energized during the hike..
event may be cancelled if the weather is inclement. Please check your emails the day of the event. Thanks.
